How to apply for SAFHR Application, Check Status and Eligibility Requirements

Today we are going to tell you about the SAFHR application, which stands for State Assistance for Housing Relief (SAFHR). The applications are also available for landlords and tenants. If you are a Missouri tenant financially affected by COVID-19, you might be eligible for rent and utility payment relief, which is paid directly to your landlord or utility company.

What is SAFHR?

The State Assistance for Housing Relief (SAFHR) for Renters Program provides rent and utility assistance for eligible Missouri residents who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. They can apply for landlords and tenants from the SAFHR application portal.

All eligible tenants will be able to apply for financial assistance to be paid directly to their landlord or utility provider. Apart from this, all landlords can also apply on behalf of their tenants.

The financial assistance covers to rent and utility dues for the period beginning April 2020 and up to 3 months of advance rent and prepaid fuel utility assistance. These utilities include gas, electricity, water, sewage/wastewater, fuel (propane, wood, etc.) and garbage. You can apply for utility assistance even if you are not applying for rental assistance.

SAFHR Application Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility for the SAFHR application is based on where you live, your household’s income, and whether you are at risk of losing your housing or having your utilities closed due to financial hardship.

  • Applicants must be residents of Missouri and must be renting their primary residence (or applying for a previous address). You can apply for rent or utility relief, or both.
  • Your estimated family income must be 80% or less of the area average income (AMI) for your county.
  • You don’t need to be sick with COVID-19, but someone in your household must have experienced a decrease in income or increased expenses during the pandemic.

  • A copy of your lease
  • Photo ID
  • Past-due rent statement(s)
  • Utility bill(s)
  • SSN Number
  • Government ID details
  • Landlords’ details and Renters’ details

How to Apply for State Assistance for Housing Relief (SAFHR)?

Step 1: To apply for the SAFHR Application or State Assistance for Housing Relief, you must visit the SFHR application portal-https://safhr.smapply.org/

Step 2: Then you need to check your eligibility and select for applying application landlords and tenants. you can follow the link below.

Step 3: Once you visit the application portal, click on the ‘Apply’ button.

Step 4: After that, log in to your account. if you do have not an account, you need to create an account first.

Step 5: Once you’ve logged in, you need to complete your SAFHR renter’s application or landlord’s application with all the required details.

Step 6: Submit your application form and wait for a response within 14 days. 

How to check SAFHR application status?

To check the SAFHR application status, you just need to allow at least 14 days from the time your application is submitted for review.

How long does the Missouri Safhr application take?

How long will it take for my application to be approved and paid? Once your application is submitted, it goes through a review round. And please wait for at least 14 days from the time of submission of your application to go through the review. In between, you can check the status.
